div > div >5/8/2009 General Electric is on the minds of a lot of investors these days because for one thing they pay a large dividend near 10% as of the date of this article. General Electric Stock also appears to be a cheap price for what the company does which conglomerate’s in many industries such as technology, media, and finance. It makes a lot of different systems for aircraft engines, power generation, and even appliances that you buy when you want to get a new fridge or washing machine. With all these industries that GE is involved in I think it’s safe to assume in my opinion that they are closely tied to how well the economy is doing in general. For instance as of the date of this article their income was down bellow 36% according to msnmoney. The good news is for GE however is that the economy has been down before in the United States and it has almost always come back up. With a company the size of GE it’s unlikely in my opinion that they will go out of business despite the bad economic weather right now. What will happen is as the economy repairs itself GE will go back up and all the people who bought it cheap will enjoy great returns and dividends that they couldn’t otherwise get. In my opinion I think that GE is still a great value for your money if you want to invest for the long term. General Electric also has an advantage over other companies in the sense that it can afford to lose one of its markets and still make money i.e. markets like the appliance market etc. etc.. General Electric Stock and the company itself are masters of market penetration which is talked about in the Igor Ansoff part of this site. As we know market penetration is the ability of a company or institution to be able to dive into current markets with current products and take a market share away from their competition. General Electric has taken on many new markets over the years with newer products and services to compliment itself. For the long term you probably can’t beat GE but don’t be afraid and sell, in fact if anything in my opinion you should buy more of it as it’s falling; GE might be one of those investing secrets that isn’t such a secret. short term traders and General Electric Stock and similair stocks
