There are many resources that are all around us. As smart investors we should know the different kinds of resources that there are since investors are buying resources and assets basically. The definition of investing is a hopeful future economic benefit that happened because of an individual or entity that made a transaction-bought the resource. There are current resources which can include cash and the equivalent of cash. They usually don't provide that much future economic benefit and can also include things like checks and cash but at the same time they are the most liquid resources of all. public or private assets


There is inventory which is what will be sold by the business, individual, or entity and it is short term resource used to try and make short term profits. Receivables which is just what people OWE you basically. Most short term resources are considered short term if they are sold or consumed in one year or less. Then there are long term resources which as assets types go this is the one that most investors will be putting their money into.

Understanding the assets that back investing in the stock market

It includes things like like securities either equities-in which you own part of the company and a piece OF THEIR RESOURCES like equipment. Or debt securities like bonds which is simply you loaning money and owning the agreement that you will be paid back plus interest. Then there are fixed asset types which are things like property, real estate, furniture, equipment and plant. Lastly there are intangible resources which aren't physical. buying assets requires saving and being thrifty


They can include rights to business names, copyrights, franchises or simply anything that is intellectual in it's property. There are also odd asset types which can include things like precious metals and commodities, famous art work and other interesting stuff that most people wouldn't invest in. As an investor it is good to know what smart investing is and what your putting your money in. If the companies that you buy stock in are resource rich with a good book value per share so you know you are owning a lot of resources for your dollar. STOCKS Which are talked about the most on this site come usually in three sizes which are small cap stocks-companies that are small and many times have had their IPO recently. Mid Cap Stocks-which are relatively large companies that are not small but not big either. Large cap stocks-are companies like Exxon IBM etc. they are large companies.
