Wal-Mart was once owned mostly by Sam Walton and people passed the stock up as if it was nothing to even bother looking at. Today Wal-Mart is an industrial giant and I don’t think there is one person on Wall-Street who hasn’t heard of it do you? This is America; today new companies are constantly being created all the time in all kinds of new and old industries alike, and these companies could be the next big ones. What do the new ones have in common with the old ones of that past that turned out to be the largest companies in their industry? Most of them were very efficient and founders or managers of the company owned the majority of the shares. For instance as of may 5th 2009 the small cap company Universal Insurance Holdings UVE has most of its shares in the hands of management and founders which are one of the things leading me to believe it will succeed.
Speaking of which, UVE appears to me to be a very sound company with a lot of promise in the future in the market. They pay a HUGE dividend of over 10% and they look like they are extremely efficient. Another company that looks very promising in a totally different industry is LPHI Life Partners Holding inc.. LPHI looks like a very efficient company to me. LPHI is also a small cap company with a lot of potential for growth in the future especially if they keep investing their money so well. The only things I am a little scared at with LPHI is the fact they don’t pay a lot of their earnings in dividends only 28 cents of the total earnings per share are paid out. This may be a good or bad thing however because this company has a lot of potential to grow in the future and they have a high return on INVESTED capital meaning it looks like they are smart at investing their money. All in all both these companies even now seem like a great value however as with any investment you must watch the company carefully and be prepared to sell in case the fundamentals of the companies are not looking too shiny anymore investing in stocks (do this with any company that you own). Remember as well that just because you think that you are investing in small cap good stocks doesn't mean that you are for the long run. investing secrets for small cap good stocks
